Who we are
The Energy Transition Council (‘ETC’) is committed to the protection and security of your personal information.
It is important that you read this notice so that you are aware of how and why we are using such information. This privacy notice describes how we collect and use personal information during and after your relationship with us, in accordance with data protection law. It will be updated regularly.
The ETC is managed by the UK’s Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (“DESNZ”), Third Generation Environmentalism (“E3G”) and the Climate Compatible Growth Programme (CCG).
DESNZ and E3G are joint data controllers for the purposes and means of processing of the same personal data on this website.
The type of personal data we process
We currently collect and use the following information:
- Non-personalised basic details about your internet connection, such as IP address, browser and device, if you have analytics cookies enabled when browsing our website.
- Your name and email address, should you wish to email us using the contact information displayed on the contact page.
How we get your personal data and why we have it
Most of the personal information we process is provided to us directly by you for one of the following reasons:
- to monitor the performance and usability of our website so we can make improvements
- so we can respond to emails when they are directed to us, using our contact page.
We do not share your data with anyone outside ETC.
Under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the lawful bases we rely on for processing this information are:
- (a) Your consent. You are able to withdraw your consent at any time. You can do this by contacting us.
How we store your personal data
Personal data is stored securely and in accordance with our data retention schedule. At the end of this period, your data is securely deleted permanently.
Your rights
- Your right of access – You have the right to ask us for copies of your personal information.
- Your right to rectification – You have the right to ask us to rectify personal information you think is inaccurate. You also have the right to ask us to complete information you think is incomplete.
- Your right to erasure – You have the right to ask us to erase your personal information in certain circumstances.
- Your right to restriction of processing – You have the right to ask us to restrict the processing of your personal information in certain circumstances.
- Your right to object to processing – You have the right to object to the processing of your personal information in certain circumstances.
- Your right to data portability – You have the right to ask that we transfer the personal information you gave us to another organisation, or to you, in certain circumstances.
Depending on the lawful basis on which your personal data is being processed, not all rights will apply.
